Complications arise just as often from too low or insufficient medication as from too high a dose. The medication must be adapted and adjusted over time, but with insufficient dosing, one’s general activity levels also decrease, leading to a gradual increase in disability. Optimised and properly adjusted medication is important, and one should not be penny-wise and pound-foolish by only taking doses when symptoms are felt. Nor should one overdose or base dosing on any beneficial ‘highs’ that some may experience from short-acting agents.
