My husband has had a dopamine pump since September 2024. He is also still taking Rasagiline 1 mg, Neupro patches 8 mg and Ropinirole 6 mg at night. Now we are going to stop the Ropinirole and increase the dose of the patch instead. We stopped the 2 mg Ropinirole, but after 1.5 days he became very ‘off’.

It sounds like a good idea to stick to a single dopamine agonist. Neupro and ropinirol are equivalent per milligram but are metabolised slightly differently, so there may be a bit more ‘off’ time even if you replace 2 mg of one with 2 mg of the other. In that case, it’s easiest to adjust the pump slightly. But it may sort itself out within a few days. /Dag Nyholm
