I wonder why, every evening, I experience an episode of tremors and anxiety, as well as dizziness, poor balance and low mood. The symptoms started when I began taking sertraline 17 weeks ago and have only got worse, with anxiety, violent tremors and negative thoughts. I have now stopped taking the sertraline. I still have these episodes every evening with anxiety and tremors. I’ve been taking Madopark Quick Mite, which helped at first but is now causing increased tremors. What’s going wrong? I usually take 5mg of Oxascand to calm down, or Madopark Depot and one Imovane at night. What can I do? I’m at my wits’ end. Is this a dosage issue, or is it lingering anxiety causing me to experience withdrawal symptoms from Oxascand? I’m getting no help with this from my neurologist. What can I do? I’m mostly staying at home because of this, and my partner is distraught. My life has disappeared!

It’s difficult to say exactly what’s happening; it sounds mostly like anxiety (which can make tremors worse and is relieved by Oxascand), but in principle it could also be a missed dose. If sertraline didn’t work, your neurologist (or GP) could try prescribing a different medication for anxiety or depression. /Dag Nyholm
