Hello! I have been on a trial of the Lecigon pump, and have now come home and still have the nasal cannula in place, as it helps with my body aches, but how long can I keep it in? I have COPD and asthma and have a lot of phlegm in my airways and nose at the moment; I’m sneezing and have to blow my nose all the time. My question: How long does the nasogastric tube last? Should I perhaps contact the clinic to have it removed? Bearing in mind that the operation won’t be for another 3–4 weeks at the earliest?

You can keep the nasal tube in as long as it works and as long as it doesn’t cause you any discomfort. That is, for several weeks or even months until you can have the tube surgically implanted. But if it’s bothering you, it can of course be removed, and you’ll then have to go back to tablet treatment. /Dag Nyholm
