The weight of a Duodopa pump with a full cartridge is just over 500 g (not hg…). The alternative L-dopa pump is called Lecigon, and it weighs about half as much but contains entacapone (found in Comtess, Stalevo and others), so it’s important to know whether you can tolerate that ingredient. It’s possible to have your pump replaced at many different hospitals in Sweden, and in principle this can be done as a day procedure. Ask your neurologist why you’re not allowed to have it replaced and ask for a referral to your nearest university hospital, or submit a ‘Request for Self-Referral’. /Dag Nyholm
