This is a field of study. No medicines are tested to determine whether you have Parkinson’s disease. Diagnosis is made by the presence of symptoms such as muscle stiffness, prolonged movement and tremors of the vilotype over a period of time, where a deterioration over time can be demonstrated as a sign of a progressive disease. In addition, a number of other factors should be assessed that affect any medicines acting negatively, other diseases that may cause damage to the brain and parts related to the basal ganglia. If these conditions exist, the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease can be replaced.
Neurologists are the most experienced in assessing symptoms and conditions and investigating patients with possible Parkinson’s disease. There are private neurologists in several locations, and they usually pay for themselves if they have private insurance coverage.
If you are a member of the Swedish health insurance fund/healthcare, you can first be assessed through a health centre, which usually writes a referral to a neurologist, but on many neurological surveys you can send a personal referral for assessment. If you are not a member of the Swedish healthcare system, there are entities within the healthcare regions that receive requests and provide victims with healthcare texts to assess Parkinson’s disease.
