I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease a year ago. Unfortunately, I can’t tolerate Madopark (due to stomach problems), so I’m taking Pramipexole, but it doesn’t help with the tremors in my right arm. Is there any medication that can stop the tremors?

If you cannot tolerate Madopark, you could try Sinemet (carbidopa/levodopa) as your main medication, possibly in combination with entacapone (Stalevo/Sastravi).

Intolerance to, for example, Madopark may be temporary, and genuine intolerance (allergy or other cause) is extremely rare. During the initial phase of treatment with an L-dopa preparation, you can add 10 mg of domperidone, which can counteract, for example, nausea and gastrointestinal reactions during the early stages of L-dopa treatment; you can usually continue without this after 1–2 weeks of treatment. /Håkan Widner
